Fabric types of long sleeve bibs

Nylon or polyester

This type of fabric is common in low-quality sleeved bibs. They come in many different colours and styles and are generally the cheapest bibs on the market. Nylon or polyester bibs are lightweight and dry quickly. They perform best if you wash them after every use, as frequent wiping can create holes in the lightweight fabric.

PUL

This is a type of material commonly used in cloth nappies. It is water resistant, but not fully waterproof. The benefit of having a sleeved bib made from PUL is that there are many different designs available which can be really cute. But, the trade-off is that it is likely to stain, and needs to be washed in the washing machine. It is also not as effective at keeping your baby clean, as liquids can seep through the fabric. Thicker PUL bibs are generally slower to dry after washing. For these reasons, we'd recommend avoiding bibs made from PUL.

Terry towelling/nylon mix

These sleeved bibs are great at quickly absorbing puree and milk/liquid. They dry quickly but require washing after each use and cannot be wiped clean. If not washed effectively, they can stain.

PU

This is a high-quality, 100% waterproof fabric that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, or run through the washing machine. Sleeved bibs made from PU are the most effective at keeping your baby's clothes clean, however, the thicker material does take longer to dry after washing than other fabric types.

Types And Styles Of Bibs

Newborn Baby Bibs
Newborn bibs are for babies under six months. They're smaller than a regular bib and have been designed for little necks. They're usually made with super soft, absorbent material. This makes them perfect for sensitive skin, and absorbent enough to catch any spills, or spit-up.

Teething Baby Bibs
Teething bibs have been designed for babies who are teething. They're a bit more absorbent than regular bibs, which means that they are ideal for mopping up the drool of teething.

Feeding Bibs
Feeding baby bibs are designed for older babies who are moving onto solid foods. These bibs tend to be waterproof, and are designed to withstand stains, spills and mess. There are a few different materials, but silicone versions are very popular as they can be wiped clean.

Smock Style Baby Bibs
Smock bibs aren't always the most popular, but they are incredibly useful. They're available in long and short sleeved versions, and completely cover your little one's upper body. They're usually made from a water-resistant material and are typically machine washable. Smock style bibs are perfect for messy eaters, and for covering up for paints and crafts.

Factors to consider when choosing a sleeved bib

01

Type of material

One of the most important aspects is the material. Opt for materials that are long-lasting, waterproof, and easy to clean. Avoid bibs with stiff or scratchy materials that could irritate your little one, or cheap materials that will wear out quickly.

02

Functionality

If you want your bib to prevent liquid or puree dripping down, choose a sleeved bib with a terry towelling front, or a chest-height food catcher pocket.

03

Easy-to-clean

If you want your bib to be easy to clean, decide if your preference is to put it through the washing machine after each use, or if you want to be able to wipe it clean.

04

The fit

Another crucial factor to consider is the size and fit of the bib. Ensure that the sleeves are sufficiently long to cover your baby's arms and that the bib is long enough to provide coverage from neck to legs.

FAQ

Q: How Long Do Babies and Toddlers Use Bibs?

A: Parents often use feeding bibs from around six months to about two years of age, to handle spills. Drool bibs are typically used earlier on. Some newborns begin using drool bibs at just a few weeks old and may continue using them until they stop breastfeeding or when most of their teeth come in.

Q: How Many Baby Bibs Does a Baby Need?

A: The number of bibs depends on what you use them for and on your baby. Once your child begins eating solid foods, you'll probably need at least one feeding bib per day. If you do laundry twice a week, four may suffice, but if you wash your baby linens weekly, you might want seven or eight.

Q: How can i get the price?

A: We usually quote within 24 hours after we get your inquiry(Except weekend and holidays). If you are very urgent to get the price, please email us or contact us in other ways so that we can offer you a quote.

Q: Can I buy samples placing orders?

A: Yes.Please feel free to contact us.

Q: Is It Safe To Use Bibs?

A: As long as baby bibs are used under supervision, and are taken off before your little one sleeps, then it’s perfectly safe to use a bib. Check the bibs regularly for signs of wear and tear.

Q: Are Bibs A Necessity?

A: Using a bib is up to you, and it is your decision. However, they are useful and convenient, so for many parents this makes them a necessity.
